The Wrap Twine Remover (WTR) from Hillco Technologies is gaining traction on the market. All this interest has spurred some conversations and customers have started asking questions. Here, we will begin to address some of these more common questions.
Yes, the blade and hooks are replaceable. However, we have customers who have cut over 3,000 bales with our blades who report that the original blade is still cutting like new. Follow the instructions within the operator’s manual, by removing the cartridge to replace the blade.
Not all bales are created equal, so we made the WTR's hooks adjustable. On both ends of the hook arm there are two bolt heads that take a 9/16 wrench to adjust the depth to which they extend.
♦Turning the bolt heads clockwise will extend the hooks and counterclockwise will retract the hooks.
- If the WTR is not grabbing the net or twine completely, you can adjust the hooks to extend further.
- If it is grabbing too much hay, adjust the hooks so they don’t extend as far.
- If one end is grabbing too much hay and the other end does not grab enough twine, adjust the bolts individually, extending one end and retracting the other.
Hook Depth Best Practices:
- The hook bank can be moved in or out of the left arm to adjust how deep the hooks reach into the bale.
- For twine wrapped bales it is best to have the hooks reach further into the bale to ensure they get behind each string.
- For round bales with netwrap, the hooks can be adjusted inwards to reduce the amount of hay that is trapped by the hooks.
Yes, it will cut through the ice layer, but will also pull off the frozen layer and any material that is frozen to the wrap, similar to how the “shell” of a bale comes off when using a traditional knife. The hooks may need to be adjusted to properly grab through the ice layer.
