If you feed round bales or large square bales, you know the routine: hop out, cut twine or wrap, pull it loose, find a place to toss it, and try not to leave a trail behind. It’s time-consuming, messy, and- when you’re doing it day after day- adds up fast.
In our latest video, Hillco Sales Director Preston Hill walks through the basics of how the Hillco Wrap Twine Remover (WTR) operates. The concept is simple and practical:
Squeeze → Cut → Collect

The Basics: Squeeze, Cut, and Collect
The WTR is designed to help remove wrap or twine from round bales using a straightforward process:
Bale Wrap Compatibility: What to Know
Not all wrapped bales are the same, and Preston’s walkthrough highlights an important point about operation:
- ✅ Tube-wrapped silage bales: The WTR can operate normally because the sides are exposed.
- ❌ Individually wrapped silage bales: The WTR may not be able to properly hook and cut the plastic wrap.
Key requirement: For the WTR to operate as intended, the sides of the bale must be open/exposed.
If you have more questions, a quick conversation about your bale setup can save you time.
Removing wrap and/or twine is one of those tasks that seems small—until it’s repeated across a season. A more efficient removal process can help:
- reduce time spent stopping and cutting by hand
- keep the feeding area cleaner
- make wrap/twine handling more manageable
